WHAT TYPES OF NANNiES DO YOU PLACE?

Great question! Starling places professionals in nanny roles and beyond! See below. 

Full-Time Nanny: A full-time nanny works on a regular schedule, typically 40 plus hours per week, within a family’s home. A nanny’s primary responsibility is to care for children, including children’s laundry, transportation, meals, development, bathing, and up-keep of the children’s belongings.

Part-Time Nanny: A part-time nanny works on a regular schedule, typically 10-30 hours per week, within a family’s home. Part-time nannies are responsible for any aspect relating to the children during working hours, including children’s laundry, transportation, meals, development, bathing, and up-keep of the children’s belongings.

Family Assistant: A family assistant works on a regular schedule, typically 20-40 plus hours a week. A family assistant’s role involves childcare as well as helping with the daily operations of the household. Tasks may involve basic organization, errands, meal prep, etc.

Household Manager: A household manager works on a regular schedule, typically 20-40 plus hours a week. This person’s job description will vary depending on the needs of the family. The household manager will have hours during each workday when expected duties include grocery shopping, errands, organization, appointment scheduling, event planning, travel planning, administrative tasks, supervising staff, etc. A household manager’s role may or may not balance caring for children along with the daily operations of the home.

Personal Assistant: Personal assistants help with day-to-day operations and help employers navigate their daily tasks. A personal assistant is relied upon to know their employer’s schedule inside and out. PA’s help plan tasks, coordinate travel, draft emails, organize, run errands, etc.

Temporary Nanny: Works on a regular schedule within a family’s home. A temporary nanny will often be employed with a family for any duration under 1 year. A temporary nanny’s primary responsibility is to care for children, including children’s laundry, transportation, meals, development, bathing, and up-keep of the children’s belongings.

Travel Nanny: Works on a regular schedule with a family while traveling. A travel nanny’s primary responsibility is to care for the children’s recreation/entertainment, transportation, meals, bathing, and up-keep of the children’s health and belongings. A travel nanny assists while at the destination(s) as well as during travel periods to and from the destination(s).

Newborn Care Specialist (NCS): The primary role of a Newborn Care Specialist is to provide focused support and care of the newborn. This includes scheduling, feeding, sleep support, etc. A Newborn Care Specialist may work between 10 days and 3 months including overnight shifts or 24-hour shifts, as needed.

Postpartum Doula (PPD): A Postpartum Doula’s role includes care for the entire family during the 4th trimester. A Doula may help assist with recovery and routine after the baby arrives. Doulas may offer parent education and emotional support during their assignment. A Doula typically works day or night anywhere from 1 week up to 3 months. Doula’s do not typically offer 24/7 care.

Private Teacher / Tutor / Homeschool Teacher / Governess: A private teacher works on a regular schedule, no more than 1-5 hours a day, assisting with your child’s educational needs. The private teacher’s primary responsibility is to develop and implement lessons and activities to enrich your child’s academic success. The educator is not responsible for meals, transportation, laundry, bathing, etc.
